RTS is a Somfy RF communication protocol that allows control of the shades without line of sight. The typical range of a RTS control is 60 feet so you can control living room shades from remote locations like the bedroom.

Each channel of a RTS control can be used for either group or individual control. All motors on the same RTS Channel will be controlled simultaneously as a group. Each RTS channel has its own unique RF ID so multiples of the same control can be used in the same application. Each motor can memorize up to 12 RTS channels so your control options are virtually limitless.

With a brief momentary push of a button, the user to can move the shade all the way up, down or to a customer set "My" postion

Custom Cut Tube Length
As a free service we will cut the tube to a specific length to suit your needs. The tube width and fabric width are typically the same unless you have a really tall shade and want to leave a little extra room for material tracking as it rolls up on the tube.

Optional: FREE custom cut lengths cut to an accuracy of 1/16" +/- 1/32

We do not accept requests for cuts to 32nds, we do not use mm and decimals should have fractional equivalents on a tape measure.

Cut lengths can not be longer than the item length. Example: If the item length is titled as 24" or 2 Feet and you need 24 1/16", you will need to buy the next size up which should be 36" or 3 Feet.

Custom Cut Hem Bar Length
As a free service we will cut the hem bar to a specific length to suit your needs. Hem bars are typically cut to the same dimension as the tube and fabric unless you are going to seal the ends of the hem bar pocket. Sealing the ends prevents the hem bar from sliding out of the pocket. We recommend making the Hem Bar length 1" less than the tube length if you are going to seal the ends. This leaves 1/2" per side to seal the hem bar pocket.

Recommended Tip to Tip Deduction = 1 5/16"

Tip to Tip is defined as the space that entire assembly (tubes, brackets, drives, idler etc.) needs to fit. This type of measurement is most often used for shades mounted within framed constraints.

Minimum Shade Width = 28" Tip to Tip

- Maximum Width limitation is due to tube deflection not lifting capacity.

The use of the internal hem bar requires a material formed pocket at the bottom of the shade. The hem bar pocket is typically formed by stitching or fusing the material. Alternative methods like double stick tape and adhesives can be used with some experimentation.

The motor and end plug slide into the tube without the use of tools. The included roller shade tube features double stick tape to securely attach your roller shade material. We recommend cutting the shade material height so a minimum of 1.5" extra wraps of material is left on the shade tube when the shade is fully down. This prevents the material from directly pulling on the tape.

* Projection Distance is the distance from the mounting surface to the center of the tube. You would need to shim the brackets or use larger projection brackets if half the roll diameter is larger than the projection distance of the brackets. If you do not know what your roll diameter is you can calculate the roll diameter using the shade calculator below.

Actual shade size, tube size and material should be used to determine the true limits of a system. The Shade Fabricator Calculator below will predict tube deflection (and more) based on tube size, material weight, width and height. Tube deflection is bending of the tube and causes ripples in the hanging shade material.

About the Motor

The Somfy Sonesse 40 WireFree (ST40WF) RTS shade motor features a long life built-in lithium-ion battery. Say good bye to expensive external batteries. Lithium-ion battery technology is mature and has moved into motorized shade. This is now the default option for retrofit installations where wiring a power source is not possible. The built-in lithium battery is expected to provide approximately 500 cycles of operation (depends on shade size) before needing a charge. That means you'll only need to plug in the optional external battery charger once a year or so.

The ST40WF RTS motor is a quiet (40dBa) radio frequency based motor for small to large shades with its 3Nm lifting capacity. The compact, low profile Sonesse 40 motor is designed for tubes as small as a 40mm smooth wall tube and is upwards compatible with more popular sizes like the the 2" Rollease internally ribbed tubes. This motor is perfect for shades 28" to 120" wide tip to tip including brackets.

Special Features - The Sonesse 40 shade motor is Radio Frequency based so you don't have to point the remote at it every time you want to control it. In fact, you can control the shades in your living room from your bedroom completely wirelessly. The motor stores the limits set by the remote controls. With the momentary press of a button you can command the shade to go to the Full up, Full Down and to a customer specified preferred position. No need to hold the button down and wait for the shade to reach the desired position. Each motor can be controlled by more than one remote control. The shade motor is controlled via Somfy's advanced (RTS) RF technology which offers the user simple individual or group control as well as a host of automation options like the MyLink mobile devices interface, Sun Sensors, RS232 Control etc. The Sonesse 40 series shade motors also have adjustable rotation speed so you can closely match the speeds of other shades in the same room.
