Continuous Loop Stainless Steel Beaded Chains
Continuous loop stainless steel beaded chains are most often used when shorter chain lengths are desired on roller shades. This is because the chain can be pulled through the clutch continuously until the shade is completely raised or lowered. If a short chain is used it may seem like more of a hassle to raise and lower a shade because of the shorter draw of the chain but sometimes shorter chains are necessary to avoid obstructions or to keep the chain out of the hands of children. Continuous loop beaded chains can still be used at standard chain lengths if you still want to use a stop ball to prevent over-travel of the shade.
Stainless Steel Beaded Chain: This type of chain is comprised of a many beads closed onto tiny metal shafts that connect each bead. The spacing of each bead is very close. The benefit of stainless steel beaded chains over plastic and nickel plated steel is that the stainless steel beaded chains have a tensile strength of approximately 90lbs compared to app. 50 lbs of plastic or nickel plated steel. Metal chains are also more flexible than plastic beaded chains and they can be made into a continuous loop without a beaded chain connector. The disadvantages of stainless steel beaded chains are that they can kink and are more subject to fatigue over the life of the shade.
Chain Stops: (Not Included) Roller shade clutch beaded chains (when supplied with a shade) typically have stops installed. Chain stops are typically larger diameter clear plastic or metal balls that are snapped over the existing beads on the chain. These stops limit the amount of chain that can be pulled through the clutch. The stops placed on a chain are to protect the shade from damage as a result of the shade being rolled up or down to far. Chains with stop balls and connectors must be made to minimum lengths so that enough chain is available to pull on to fully move the shade to its limits.
Rollease RBC45MSS-CL Continuous Loop Beaded Chain Specifications:
• Non-Magnetic Stainless Steel 304
• #10 - 0.175" (4.45mm) Diameter Beads
• 6mm (0.236") Bead Spacing
• Tensile Strength: App. 90lbs
• Use with Rollease Clutches
• Sold Per Chain
Note: The length of the chain is the straight length (not looped) before the chain is finished. The resulting loop will be app. half that of the length selected. We do not use connectors in our continuous loop beaded chains. Continuous loop chains are fabricated here at AV Outlet and we can quote lengths other than those listed.
Chain Drop Length: Chain drop lengths vary from app. 50% to 90% of shade height depending on the clutch used for the shade. Clutch size is determined by shade width and tube size. We recommend using slightly more than the minimum required chain length.
This Rollease Clutch Chain Length Chart can be used as a guide to indicate standard chain lengths.
