Note: DIY Projection Screen Material w/ Edge Binding is not returnable. Da-Lite processes orders fairly fast and making a change the day after you place an order may not be possible. If you receive a defective product or incorrect item it will be replaced.
Note: Projection Screens with Edge Binding are part of Da-Lite's Lace and Grommet Screen Family. These screens are designed with reinforced edges to provide a more durable product that can be used for installations that are repetitive or traveling. We at AV Outlet do not feel the edge binding is aesthetically pleasing enough to be used as a image border in a Home Theater Environment. That is not to say it does not look good as it does look quite good. It is not the fit and finish most users would want in their home theater.
To Order: Select the OVERALL Dimensions of the screen you want using the drop down selection boxes to get product price, review & select desired product options and then add the item to your cart. The dimension is always the overall dimension of the screen NOT the viewable area. If you add edge work to the screen material like painted borders or binding it will deduct from the viewable area of the material. Also be sure to add enough material to allow you to attach the material to your frame. If you can not select your size using the pull down boxes you will need to call or e-mail us to inquire about pricing for larger sizes.
Optional Add-ons:
• Edge Binding Width Select the desired width of your edge binding. Remember edge work takes away from the viewable area of the screen material.
- 2" to 4" Width
• Binding Options These options provide a method of attaching the material to your frame and this a Free Option with the exception of the snap button option. Choose from:

About Projection Screen Material Types
Da-Lite Projection Screen Materials
Supported Vinyl Projection Screen Material
Supported vinyl projection screen material is a vinyl covered substrate. The substrate in most cases is fiberglass. The fiberglass core provides rigidity to the screen material and allows the material to be used in a variety of applications. Supported vinyl projections screen materials are most commonly used in retractable projection screens but can also be used in fixed frame applications as well as in flying lace and grommet applications. Supported vinyl materials are generally quite durable and this is their main advantage over unsupported vinyl projection screen materials. If you want to hang it, all you have to do is put a weight bar at the bottom of the material to ensure it hangs flat. The use of supported vinyl in fixed frame projection screen applications can be a little more challenging than an unsupported vinyl because you can't simply stretch out wrinkles as you work your way around your DIY frame but because it is durable you can pull out your staples and staple over again until you get it correct. The only real downside to a supported vinyl (for some people) is that they are not as smooth as an unsupported vinyl and typically have a matte or textured surface. This is usually only noticeable in the image for those who are sitting too close. At normal projection viewing distances the matte surface is nearly undetectable. Supported vinyl projection screen materials are not always 100% opaque so if you have a critical application with light coming from behind you may want to ask. Supported vinyl materials typically have a roll width of 8'. Larger roll widths are limitedly available but at very steep prices. Screens larger higher than 96" will require a seam if the width is also larger than 96".
Unsupported Vinyl Projection Screen Materials
Unsupported vinyl projections screens are pure vinyl materials and they do not have a substrate. They can not be simply hung or put on a roller to be retracted. Unsupported vinyls are stretchable and must be stretched along all fours edges. Because these materials are soft we do not recommend laying the material on a substrate as the surface irregularities of the substrate may show through the screen material. The viewable area of the material should not be touching anything. Unsupported vinyl material is are easier to puncture and wrinkle than supported vinyl. Wrinkles will stretch out but it does take some time for them to relax. The potential for puncture should not be a huge concern for most but if you are putting a fixed wall projection screen in a kindergarten class you might want a supported vinyl. While the surface of an unsupported vinyl is embossed it is still a much smoother surface than a supported vinyl. This pleases those who choose to sit close to the screen. Unsupported vinyl projections screens lend themselves nicely to fixed frame applications. Wrinkles and ripples are generally pretty easy to stretch out as you apply the material to the frame. Unsupported vinyl materials are also available on much larger roll widths of 16' so there are far fewer instances where a seam may be required. The surface of a tensioned unsupported vinyl screen is typically much flatter than a supported vinyl screen in both retractable and fixed frame applications. Unsupported vinyl projection screen materials are not always 100% opaque so if you have a critical application with light coming from behind you may want to add the black backing option. The black backing option also makes the material thicker and more durable.
