Category 5E (Cat-5E) is a standard for 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX (Fast Ethernet), and 1000BASE-T (Gigabit Ethernet) and are the basic essentials for high-speed network setup. Using these cables, you can enjoy high-speed and high-fidelity data transfer capabilities that only superior cables can deliver. Our Category cables are engineered to the tightest tolerances to deliver unwavering reliability during mission critical and stress intensive applications. Every cable is designed for optimal performance, producing unparalleled data transfer speeds while preserving utmost data integrity.
CAT-5E vs CAT-6
The Category 5E cable specification exceeds the needs of most consumers and equipment used in most residential and conmmercial. So why the push for CAT 6?The driving force seems to be fear of the unknown and knowing that the need for the increased capabilities of CAT-6 will eventually be needed. Using CAT-6 cable instead of CAT-5E cable will typically not result in any performance enhancements unless you are running cable lengths near the 100 meter limit or are using 10G components which are rare. The primary argument for CAT-6 cable really would be for future proofing the installation. So if you are the average home owner running you lines there isn't a big argument for CAT-6. The downside to CAT-6 cable is that the cable is still considerably more expensive, is thicker and stiffer.
